Let's do an Ether 12:27 Case study real quick. For those not familiar:
And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto
men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all
men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before
me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto
them.
Wow. What an amazing verse! If we come unto Christ (humble ourselves before
Him), and ask Him to change our weakness into strengths, he can do it. This
is something called character growth. It hurts, but it builds character.
Anyway, on to the case study. Let's look at two Biblical prophets: Moses
and Enoch.
They both stuttered, probably. Check out these verses:
Here's Enoch in Moses 6:31
...Why is it that I have found favor in thy sight, and am but a lad*, and
all the people hate me; *for I am slow of speech*; wherefore am I thy
servant?

And Here's Moses in Exodus 4:10
...O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither heretofore, nor since thou hast
spoken unto thy servant: *but I am slow of speech*, and of a slow tongue.

The Lord responded similarly to both of their concerns:
To Enoch he says: ...Open thy mouth, and it shall be filled, and I will
give thee utterance, for all flesh is in my hands, and I will do as seemeth
me good. (Moses 6:32)

He said to Moses in Exodus 4:12
Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou
shalt say.

Enoch chose to put his faith in the Lord. Enoch was blessed so that with
power. He
...led the people of God, and their enemies came to battle against them;
and he spake the word of the Lord, and the earth trembled, and the
mountains fled, even according to his command; and the rivers of water were
turned out of their course; and the roar of the lions was heard out of the
wilderness; and all nations feared greatly, so powerful was the word of
Enoch, and so great was the power of the language which God had given him.
(Moses 7:13)

Moses, on the other hand, didn't quite have the faith for that.
He suggested that someone else speak for him.
And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Moses, and he said, Is not
Aaron the Levite thy brother? I know that he can speak well. ... And thou
shalt speak unto him, and put words in his mouth: and I will be with thy
mouth, and with his mouth, and will teach you what ye shall do.
(Exo. 4:14-15)
Moses lost his ability to be strengthened by the Lord, simply becuase he
was scared. So did the people of Israel, so did the Nephites, and so will
you. God will work around you being rebelious and slow to remember Him, it
just won't be nearly as fun for you.

Because of the promise inherent in the Gospel, which is articulated
perfectly in Ether 12:27, Enoch was able to turn his slowness of speech
into what God needed him to be. All of have potential to be humble. There
isn't a single person in the world who can't choose to be humble. And wow.
The blessings are crazy.

Well, the two biggest things these past two weeks were the freeze and
transfers. We got transfer info on Sunday! Elder Gonzalez and I are staying
in Pasadena! Just not as companions. He is going to the other area. We are
both getting new companions (to the area, not the mission). My new comp is
named Elder Moser. He seems like a cool guy!
Last weekend, it froze! Burr. Colder than Utah they tell me. We had to
cancel church, but instead we did the Zoom call with our friends.
Unfortunately, none of our friends could make it :(. Our area has sort of
been going through it. Still. I have faith it'll get better, though! I
honestly can't think of a whole lot more that happened this week. Buy I
have some more photos! Let's look at that:
