Um, hi! (Week 94? Idk. A lot of weeks.)

Um, hi!
Here it is, another genuine article. Or rather, a genuine email. I actually
write these, you know.
But anyway, it's been a pretty dang good last few weeks!
We've been having some fun, working hard, etc.
Lets start with this:
This comes from Alma 29.
4 I ought not to harrow up in my desires the firm decree of a just God, for
I know that he granteth unto men according to their desire, whether it be
unto death or unto life; yea, I know that he allotteth unto men, yea,
decreeth unto them decrees which are unalterable, according to their wills,
whether they be unto salvation or unto destruction.

This is neat. I've been doing some studies recently on desire. On my
mission, I've completely learned and seen that God does grant us according
to our desires. If we have a desire to repent, and to be better, God will
grant it to us. If we desire to amend in place, God will also grant that
desire to us. One of the greatest challenges that I have faced that I have
seen on my mission is trying to change desire. One of the big questions
that I've had is "how can I change my own desire?" I have learned that the
best way to change our desires is to change our decisions. Desires manifest
themselves as wants. When I want something, if we take a moment to audit
what the source is, we will be able to identify a base desire. Depending on
what we do with our wants, whether we indulge them or not, they will
strengthen or weaken the desires that we have. There are good desires, and
there are bad desires. Good desires are Godly, and bad desires are not. If
a want that you have brings you closer to God, then it fulfills your
righteous desire. For example, perhaps you want to spend more time with
your family. This stems from the base desire to love. If we do spend more
time with our family, then our capacity to love will increase. The same is
true for bad desires. One big problem that we have, is that we have both
good and bad desires almost constantly. Life is learning how to prioritize
the good over the bad. So do that!

In terms of some other stuff that's happened this week, we've been working
on finding more people to teach. We've had a lot of people that were
getting close, but unfortunately they just haven't been able to meet with
us. We do have a man named Miguel that we are teaching, and he has a
baptismal date! He's come a few times at church, and the difference that
we've seen in his life is real. Even he can recognize it. Before, he went
about like everything was hopeless, and it seems like not a lot of things
brought him joy. Now, the gospel and church has changed his outlook! The
last time we had a lesson with him, he called up somebody he knew in Mexico
and had that person sit in on the lesson! He's already sharing the gospel,
haha!
It's also been really fun to be a part of the new ward. We've already seen
a lot of success for you members from both wards to our friends! General
Conference was really cool, I would recommend that you all watch it.
We had Temple Pday today, and so we got to do some endowments. After that,
we went to an all you can eat sushi place, now, we're getting haircuts.

I miss you guys! But I don't really know what else to write about. Pray for
Miguel!!
