Weekin'

How's it going y'all?
Good week here in Houston!
Working, getting bit by mosquitos (I use bug spray but then they start
biting in diabolical spots) (I have a mosquito bite on my shoulder blade).
It' heating up, school's almost out, people are coming to church, good
times good times.
Anyway, spiritual thought!
I'm not 100% sure if I've shared this before so bear with me if so
So for Come, Follow Me this week we read D&C 46. It talks a lot about
spiritual gifts. I want to touch briefly on the importance of spiritual
gifts. Arguably the most important scripture to you, your patriarchal
blessing, focuses almost entirely on endowments from the spirit. Check
again if you don't belive me. Additionally, it is also arguably one of the
most important things taught in the Book of Mormon. When Moroni was writing
his final thoughts in the Book of Mormon, he chose 3 subjects: revalation
through the holy ghost, spiritual gifts, and Jesus Christ. These are the 3
points he felt most impressed to leave readers of the Book of Mormon with.
Here's what I'm talking about:
Moroni 10
4. And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would
ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not
true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having
faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of
the Holy Ghost.
5. And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things.
And also:
8. And again, I exhort you, my brethren, that ye deny not the gifts of God,
for they are many; and they come from the same God. And there are different
ways that these gifts are administered; but it is the same God who worketh
all in all; and they are given by the manifestations of the Spirit of God
unto men, to profit them.
Finally:
32. Yea, come unto Christ, and be perfected in him, and deny yourselves of
all ungodliness; and if ye shall deny yourselves of all ungodliness, and
love God with all your might, mind and strength, then is his grace
sufficient for you, that by his grace ye may be perfect in Christ; and if
by the grace of God ye are perfect in Christ, ye can in nowise deny the
power of God.
Moroni 10:3-5 are probably some of the most quoted scriptures in the Book
of Mormon, up there with 1 Nephi 3:7, Ether 12:27, and Helaman 5:12. It's
such a powerful message! You can know ALL things through the power of the
Holy Ghost. Later in the chapter, we learn that we are all endowed with
different spiritual gifts, and that all of us have the power to use them
for good. Lastly, we are invited to come unto Christ and seek out every
good gift.
This is one of the coolest chapters in the Book of Mormon for real.
Happenings of the week:
Well, we put a few people on date for baptism! We pue a guy named Candidto
on date. He's already been to church 3 times, but has not a whole lot of
time. We have only got to teach him one time but we taught the restoration,
and he loved it!
We also put a family on date. Mercy, and her son, Oscar. We taught Mercy
restoration a few mornings ago, but it kinda wasn't that good. We got to do
it over and the spirit was so much stronger. She shared an experience she
had with the holy ghost. We invited them to recive the gift of the holy
ghost so they could have that feeling forever. They said yes! Very cool.
In other happenings, umm its pday and we played basketball. No idea what
more I have to do.
They updated Gmail so I can't embed photos. Bruh.
