LETTER 018 โ TUESDAY, 8 APRIL 2025 ยท week 42
Chewsday
Hey all, Elder Miller here!
Happy Tuesday!
I hope all has been well in everywhere but Houston. I think about ya, and I
hope y'all are doing good! It was a good week for me, we've been having a
better time! I have been finding more people, and well working harder makes
you happier.
Plus general conference!
I just wanted to share some themes and thoughts I had/noticed. For
starters, WOW VIRGINS. 5 times the 10 virgins were mentioned. That's
like... 50 virgins! So I guess the general authorities are telling us to
make sure our lamps are trimmed before we go to bed. What does that mean
for you? If you don't have an idea of what it means for you to trim your
lamps, may I extend a few ideas:
1. Scripture study. Nothing else but prayer comes as close as scripture
study for renewing our oil stores throughout the week. When we read the
scriptures and pray, we can grow closer to God by understanding his will
for us.
2. Daily repentance. When we repent, we are asking to be made clean again
every single day. As Alma says in Alma 5, if you were called back to God at
this time, would you be sufficiently humble and clean from your sins? This
is a perfect example for the 10 virgins, too. We don't know the hour the
Son of Man comes, nor the hour we go to the Son of Man.
3. Taking the sacrement. Like the last two, but every week.
4. Temple attendance. The prophet didn't announce 15 more temples just for
you to go once every 6 months! Frankly, if at all possible, you should
probably be going once a week. Unlike the 10 virgins, we have to 'buy oil'
pretty often. We use our spiritual lamps constantly. When we go to the
temple, its like we buy a whole jug of oil haha! We should cherish every
opportunity we have to go to the temple. I'm sad (although greatful!) that
I can only go to the temple once every 6 weeks. I wish I could go more. You
should go more for me!
If you aren't temple worthy, get temple worthy! The blessings are too
precious to leave by the wayside!
5. O be wise, what can I say more?
6. Do NOT fall into the temptation to hide your sins. I really liked that
talk, but I don't remember who it was.
Ok what happened time
Umm yeah general conference was lit. We also had interviews with President
Schmutz this week, too. Today was the most silly. We left too late for the
temple this morning (oh yeah today is temple pday) so we were unable to do
our endowment session. We did initatories instead. Awful Houston traffic.
We played Top Golf and ate food after, too.
Our friend Fermin has been doing awesome! We watched 3 sessions of
confrence and he seemed to love it! He is learning so fast. I sure hope
I'll be here for his baptism on the 19th, but we'll find out on Monday.
Thats when I get transfer info. I uh, can't really think of much right now.
But yeah! Happy week :)
